Mi sono svegliata prima dell'alba

2017.
Publication realized by Culture attive

This publication is the result of an exhibition held at the "Galleria d´Arte Moderna e Contemporanea" in San Gimignano (It) as part of the "Fenice Contemporanea" prize and its workshop won in 2015.
The workshop that I developed allowed students from 3 cities in the Tuscany region to interact with natural light and its ability to vibrate with matter: here crystal. In the first part, the middle school students conducted a luminous urban investigation: research, reference and capture, map in hand, all the natural optical effects hidden in the city of Poggibonsi (reflection, superposition, distortion, light forms, shadows) . Then they, and in partnership with the crystal company ColleVilca, reproduced these same forms and created luminous, colorful and ephemeral sculptures. From this experience, a series of exchanges was established between them and the craftsmen to answer their interrogations concerning the interference between light and crystal.

There is a kind of joy that shines in "Mi sono svegliata prima dell'alba", Agathe Rosa's project for "Interferenze", it is the joy of finding solutions in the natural habitat to build stories, links and connections with the images, with the words and with all that one can have in sight by creating new alphabets for new grammars of vision.
The creative movement, starting from any point, has the power, in all simplicity, to give new senses to things, to (re)read the world. In this story of ours there is the appearance of a light in the night ... which transforms into the epiphany of senses to be destined for the visible, a mythical thought that designs the world with new meanings, naming them and then calling them by their own names, as if they were people , friends…
In the tradition of Occidental culture, light is associated with revelation and, in fact, the light in I woke up before dawn, to reveal itself as a sign and meaning, chooses the most intimate moment of the night, giving the appearance the power of vision - even more totalizing in that it happens during the sleep in which the surrounding world is immersed. Here, so, the light is revealed to those who with awake eyes, as a counterpoint to sleep, are ready to seize the moment of the epiphany.
When the artist's eyes see opportunities for knowledge and manage to restore the experience, we involved spectators can be crossed by that change of gaze that immediately puts us in two parallel points of view: that of the artist and that in which things lie according to the shared and acquired sense.
And it is precisely in the superimposition - or replacement - of another way of being that the shift towards something else can happen. Tackling a project by opening one's ability to create "interference" is a very important exercise in style, especially if it is aimed at young people, because it offers the alternative point of view of creative thinking, showing it as absolute cognitive force.
But showing the movement of the pupil that generates the vision by replacing the point of view ... is also - perhaps - a search for complicity for an analogical reading of the world.
