Serie of 7: Wood, feathers, acrylic - Linen sheaths - 120 cm x 2 cm

Les 7 vents is composed of seven wooden staffs painted according to a precise sequence of colors. Each corresponds to a direction: West, North, East, South, Sky, Earth and Center.
Over the course of a year, I collected feathers around my home. Each one was chosen for its presence and its particular quality. The colors and their associations were determined through a process of listening and attention directed toward the different directions.
The work draws inspiration from certain Native American cosmologies that conceive space as a living relational field connecting humans, animals, elements and the forces of the world. It is intended as a tribute to these traditions and to the way they orient our relationship to the living world.
